Job Information

Responsible for the development, application and supervision of approved engineering policies, practices and programs that increases quality and reduces cost within a specific area or expertise.

Mentor others by leading prevention and containment quality improvement activities for specific area of focus.

Role & Responsibility

Development and Application of Approved Engineering Quality Policies-

  • Lead in the development and implementation of investigative techniques for manufacturing processes, systems, equipment and materials in terms of their impact on quality and cost.
  • Design, recommend and implement process controls where appropriate.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems and make recommendations to resolve and/or correct such problems. 
  • Develop and implement appropriate controls and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Develop evaluation techniques and documentation that effectively communicates part/process evaluations to appropriate departments in design, manufacturing, purchasing or service.
  • Forecast, evaluate, justify, design, select and implement machines, tools and equipment that increase quality and reduce cost.
  • Develop and conduct quality tests on and prepare evaluations of purchase supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Input to and or ownership of quality plan on New Product Development projects. 
  • Review and recommend modifications to preliminary engineering designs for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Work with design and manufacturing engineering during prototype builds to determine if product or component meets specifications.  If not, investigate and recommend modifications to parts or process which assure compliance.
  • Actively participate in vendor reviews, audits and certification to ensure quality processes and/or contingency plans are in place.
  • Assist in the development of long term plans for quality and cost improvement projects within the area of expertise.
  • Be aware of trends and developments in product design and manufacturing processes that can be used to impact quality and cost.  Be a leader in the planning and application of these trends and developments.

Supervision of Approved Engineering Quality Policies

  • Supervise the activities of engineers and interns in completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Assist in the training of lower level engineers in techniques of quality and cost improvement.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelors Degree - Engineering - Industrial; Equivalent Allowed
  • Experience with similar product and/or manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of the company systems, processes, and procedures
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • 5-7 Years of Experience
  • Less than 10% Travel
