Job Information

Bobcat Company currently has a unique and exciting opportunity for a skilled machinist to become part of our Product Engineering prototype team.  This is a first-shift, non-production position where machinist will work in the Prototype Shop with our engineering team in the development of new Bobcat products.  Support prototyping process through manufacturing of prototype components, procurement and inventory management of production and vendor components. Provide feedback to design and manufacturing teams during the prototype development and test processes.   

Role & Responsibility


  • Develop and execute machining processes to support project workload.
  • Develop, build & utilize unique fixtures & setups.  
  • Write programs for CNC controls. 
  • Utilize CAM software to assist with machine programming.Develop and execute machining processes to support project workload.  
  • First time quality to align with availability of minimal or no setup parts.
  • Verify quality through utilization of mechanical and/or CAM tools (Faro arm).  
  • Justify and procure tooling required to support project workload. 


  • Interpret prints & assembly drawings to ensure parts and/or machines meet desired specifications. Study specifications & plan sequence of operations.  
  • Utilize CAD software to view & interpret design intent (Pro E/ProductView).  
  • Assist with part coordination to aid in successful completion of projects.  
  • Develop & maintain cross functionality in multiple shop functions.  
  • Utilize software to locate & transact parts from production, evaluate workload & flow parts through processes, communicate project progress & track machine history. 
  • Operate Engineering support equipment.  
  • Perform preventative maintenance & repairs on facilities & equipment. 
  • Assist with justifications for Capital Equipment Requests (CER).

Job Requirement

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong applied mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Machining experience and ability to pass machining test.
  • Experience of other areas such as fabrication, weld, assembly helpful but not required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) experience preferred.
